Recycled Materials Printing: Eco-Friendly Art Exploration for Kids

In this class, children will explore the creative potential of recycled materials as art mediums. They will learn to repurpose items such as the perforated side of cardboard, bubble wrap, and textured plastic to create captivating compositions of layered patterns and colors. They will first create their stamps and then through a process of dipping the recycled materials into paint and using a stamping action, they will have the freedom to experiment and layer these elements as they see fit, fostering their artistic expression and imagination.

Students are encouraged to bring any additional flat recycled items they may have to class, although all necessary materials will be provided. This ensures a personalized touch to their creations and promotes eco-conscious creativity.

All materials will be provided.

Nature Faces & Leaf Pressing: Creative Exploration for Kid

In this nature-focused class, children will embark on an outdoor adventure exploring the scenic trails behind the Mill. Guided by the instructor (and mindful of avoiding poison ivy), they'll search for and gather a variety of natural treasures such as leaves, flowers, ferns, and twigs. Next, they'll discover the art of pressing and drying these collected items, learning how to assemble them for preservation. Each child will take their pressed treasures home to complete the drying process.

Then comes the creative part! Using pre-pressed and dried leaves, flowers, and other natural items, the children will have the opportunity to craft a unique face on a pre-cut cardboard canvas, expressing their imagination and connection to nature in a tangible and artistic way.

All materials will be provided.

Realism vs Imagination: Exploring Self-Identity Through Art

In this expressive class, children will delve into their self-identity through a unique artistic project. They will have the opportunity to explore both their reflection in the mirror and the aspects of themselves that go beyond physical appearance. Using a divided paper approach, students will create a realistic portrayal of half their face as seen in the mirror on one side. On the other half, they will unleash their creativity by representing the other half of their face as anything they desire. They will be encouraged to incorporate images, words, and colors that reflect their true selves and what makes them unique. A variety of artistic tools such as colored pencils, markers, and collage materials will be provided for this project. Students will be encouraged to let their imagination soar, allowing them to express themselves in a way that is both creative and meaningful.

All materials will be provided.
