Join Connie for a day exploring the creation of spirited and compelling landscape sketches and paintings. Abstraction requires us to free up our senses, knowing the world’s lines, colors and forms in new ways. We never actually paint what we see, we translate the environment on to canvas through the medium of paint. We find new colors, forms, lines and composition, mentally cropping and tweaking, resizing, and placing it on a flat surface called a painting. We will be working with what you already know and moving toward an abstract vision.
This workshop will offer a series of hand-on exercises to broaden our seeing abilities, loosen up our brush techniques, focus our composition and lean into each of our personal visions. It’s a fun day with lots of movement, talk and companionship as we each move into new creative expressions. There will be morning and afternoon sessions with time to paint on your own in the afternoon.
